CALL TO ORDER: Chairman, Rich Peterson, called the
meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present were John Mortensen,
Carolyn Weisenburger, Rich Peterson, Marguerite Sumner,
Doris Teigen, Mary Lou Smith, Dr. Glenn Hoberg, Rhoda
Wood, and Ralph Bader. Margaret Wolske and Florence
Patrick were excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann,
Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Jolayne Mehr, Pat Otto, Janice
Thompson, Betty Jordahl, Shirley Marlette, Lorraine Jacobs,
Irene Burch, Harriet Meath, Gladys Ellefson, and Donna Hauser.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by John
Mortensen and seconded by Ralph Bader to adopt the agenda as
printed; motion carried.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be
Thursday, September 149 2000 at 8:30 a.m. at the Government
Center.
ACTION OF PREVIOUS S: John Mortensen noted
the last Council on Aging meeting was July.18' not June 17'. A
motion was made by Rhoda Wood and seconded by Marguerite
Sumner to approve the minutes as printed with correction noted;
motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The St. Croix Aging Newsletter was discussed.
County Fair Report: The County Fair was a success.
2001 Budget: Sandy Gehrmann presented the proposed 2001
budget. Each Department on Aging program was discussed
individually. On Tuesday, August 15', the County Board
accepted a three-year wage package for non-represented
employees. This means that all permanent and permanent part-
time employees received an unexpected 31/2 % increase for the
year 2000. The 2000 average wage at the sites went from
$7.07 to $7.32 per hour and for 2001 will increase to $7.61 .
Designated employees should receive a retro paycheck next
Thursday. The total proposed 2001 Budget is $600,270
including the County request of $122,727. A motion was
made by Ralph Bader and seconded by Carolyn Weisenburger
to accept the proposed 2001 budget as presented; motion
carried.
Staff Reports:
WITC will donate ten computers. Theywill be placed at senor
centers and at least one will go in our office. The St. Croix
County Computer Services Department will train all site staff in
selected programs. A motion was made by Mary Lou Smith and
seconded by John Mortensen to purchase seven printers for the
computers at the sites at $395.00 each; motion carried. The
Center Boards will pay for a second telephone line and internet
costs.
The Department on Aging received the Community Links Project
Grant in the amount of $9,392.00.

Farm City Days, that was held at KenRich Farms on August 12',
was a success. The Department on Aging had a booth and sold
$301.00 for Faith In Action and DayAway Programs.
The Department on Aging received $1,000 from the Ford Motor
Company for unexpected equipment costs for the new Ford van.
