ACTION ON PREVIOUS MINUTES INTRODUCTIONS UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Events Update i NEW BUSINESS: Nutrition Intervention/Outcomes The Aging Difference Conference Reports Election of Officers Staff Reports Site/Center Updates ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE POSSIBLE AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING: ADJOURNMENT (Agenda not necessarily presented in this order) SUBMITTED BY: Sandy Gehrmann DATE: June 1, 2000 COPIES TO: COUNTY BOARD OFFICE COUNTY CLERK NEWS MEDIA/NOTICE BOARD COMMITTEE MEMBERS COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING June 15, 2000 St. Croix County Government Center New member orientation was held at 8:30 a.m. CALL TO ORDER: Acting Chairman, Rich Peterson, called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. ROLL CALL: Members present were John Mortensen, Carolyn Weisenburger, Mary Lou Smith, Rich Peterson, Marguerite Sumner, Rhoda Wood, Margaret Wolske, Florence Patrick, and Doris Teigen. Ralph Bader and Glenn Hoberg were excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Jolayne Mehr, Pat Otto, Janice Thompson, Betty Jordahl, Shelly Casey, Shirley Marlette, Cindy Ahrens, and Chuck Whiting. ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Marguerite Sumner and seconded by John Mortensen to adopt the agenda as printed; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be. Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at 8:30 a.m. at the Government Center. ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was made by Margaret Wolske and seconded by Rhoda Wood to approve the minutes as printed; motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Events Update: On April 9', a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser for DayAway and Faith In Action was held at the Baldwin Legion. The event was sponsored by Lutheran Brotherhood and raised $3,969.04. Margaret Wolske and seconded by Florence to close the nominations and elect Rich Peterson for Chairman and John Mortensen for Vice-Chairman; motion carried. Staff Reports: Pierce County nutrition sites will be closed on July 3rd. The site supervisors should go back and ask participants what there thoughts are about closing on Monday, July 3rd. i A motion was made by John Mortensen and seconded by Margaret Wolske to sell Hammond Heartland Raffle tickets and the proceeds from ticket sales will go into Department on Aging programs; motion carried. The Department on Aging budget and United Way grant was discussed. There will be a food stamp training on July 17' at the Human Service Building in New Richmond. The training will be on the new plastic card that the State developed. A center pie contest was discussed. SITE/CENTER REPORTS: DEER PARK: Things are going well. Participants enjoyed the Senior Celebration and Senior Health and Fitness Day. GLENWOOD CITY: Participants enjoyed the Senior Health and Fitness Day. The center is watering plants on the main street and had a BINGO parry last week. BALDWIN: The new site supervisor is Betty Jordahl. A participant donated an electric organ and the senior center received $27,000 from an anonymous donor. HUDSON: The senior center moved on May 19' to a new location in the Wintergreen/CCH development. Participants
