Rhoda Wood was excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Jolayne Mehr, Shirley Marlette, Marguerite Sumner, Larry Weisenburger, Mark Vanasse, Diane Rhine, Lorraine Jacobs, Karine Butler, Shelly Casey, and Phyllis Chapin. ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Rich Peterson and seconded by John Mortensen to adopt the agenda as printed; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be March 16, 2000 at 8:30 a.m. ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was made by Carolyn Weisenburger and seconded by Florence Patrick to approve the minutes as printed with the addition of the presentation of the $3,000.00 check to the Department on Aging from the New Richmond Senior Center Board to help purchase the New Richmond vehicle; motion carried. Introductions were made. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Upcoming Events: get them returned if all the information is not included. Breakfast Pilots: The Department on Aging will start providing a light breakfast for those who have nutritional need. Presentation by and tour of Deerfield: The Deerfield staff s gave a presentation and tour of the facility. Staff Reports: The Spring Card Tournament schedule is as follows: March 22- Hudson; March 29-Somerset; April 5-Glenwood City; April 12- Baldwin; April 19-New Richmond; April 26-Woodville; and May 3-Deer Park. Senator, Alice Clausing will be the Hudson Library on January 20' from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. United Way budget requests are as follows: The Center Board Coalition - $11,625; Faith In Action - $1,460; Aging & Handicapped Transportation, Inc. - $4,373; and DayAway Clubs - $2,833. In 1999 the Aging and Handicapped Transportation raised $30,000 for the Vehicle Transportation. Barb commended the volunteers for raising funds for the senior programs for St. Croix County. At the last Council on Aging meeting there was discussion on the impact of smoking on the lives of St. Croix County residents and cost to the County. A letter was read from Barbara Nelson, Public Health Supervisor, that she had written to the Finance Committee regarding the dangers and cost of smoking. The Senior Statesmanship Program will be held in Madison on March 13-16. If you or someone you know is interested, please call Sandy.
