SUBMITTED BY: Debra Kathan Personnel Director DATE: April 7, 2000 COPIES TO: County Board Office, County Clerk, News Media, Notice Board, Committee Members PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING Date: April 19 and 20,2000 Location: Government Center,Hudson April 19: Chairman Gerald Peterson called the Personnel Committee meeting to order at 9:12 a.m. Members present: Art Jacobson, Mary Louise Olson, Julie Speer, Herb Giese and Peterson. Also present: Debra Kathan and Steve Weld. Representing the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission was mediator Thomas Yeager. Moved(Peterson, Jacobson) and approved to adopt the agenda as presented. Moved (Speer, Olson) and approved to accept the minutes of the April 12 Personnel Committee meeting. The next meeting was scheduled for April 20. �I. Motion(Jacobson, Speer)to go into closed session per WI. Stat. 19.85 (1) c and e for the purpose of continuing labor negotiations with the AFSCME unions. Roll call vote: all aye; moved into closed session at 9:15 a.m. Moved (Olson, Giese) and approved to come out of closed session at 7:10 p.m. Moved (Jacobson, Speer) and approved to adjourn at 7:10 p.m. April 20: Chairman Gerald Peterson called the Personnel Committee meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Members present; Art Jacobson, Herb Giese, Julie Speer, Mary Louise Olson, and Peterson. Also present: Debra Kathan, Steve Weld, and mediator Thomas Yeager. Four elected officials appeared before the Committee to ask for reconsideration of the proposed increase in pay for their positions in the years 2001 and 2002: Sue Nelson, Mary Jean Livermore, Kay Walsh, and Lori Meyer. Meyer's presentation urged decision-making based upon the competitive job market, cost of living, and inflationary concerns. Livermore noted that all the elected officials have office management responsibilities. Nelson indicated that comparability with other counties should factor into the setting of wages. Motion (Giese, Olson)to go into closed session per WI Stat. 19.85 (1)c and e for the purpose of continuing labor negotiations with the AFSCME unions. Roll call vote: all aye; moved into closed session at 10:38 a.m. Attending a portion of the closed session was Chuck Whiting.
