PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING
Date: April 12, 2000 Location: Government Center,Hudson
The Personnel Committee meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by Chairman Gerald
Peterson. Members present: Peterson, Herb Giese, Mary Louise Olson, Julie Speer, and Art
Jacobson. Also present: Debra Kathan.
Moved(Giese, Jacobson) and approved to accept the agenda as presented. The next
meeting was set for April 19 at 9 a.m. This would be a mediation session with the AFSCME
unions. Moved (Jacobson, Speer) and approved to accept the minutes of the April 6 Committee
meeting.
Motion(Giese, Speer) to go into closed session per WI Stat. 19.85 (1) c and e for the
purpose of continuing labor negotiations with the AFSCME unions. Roll call vote: all aye;
moved into closed session at 9:05 a.m. Representing the unionized nursing home employees
were Beth Adams and Lisa Weiske. Representing the GGSS Union were Janet Smith and Rich
Monn.
Moved (Olson, Jacobson) and approved to come out of closed session at 1:30 p.m.
Peterson announced that tentative agreements had been reached with the Health Center Union
and the GGSS Union regarding their respective appendices for the years 2000 through 2002.
Discussion regarding the payment of unemployment compensation in light of the current
labor market. Kathan will review UC procedures for job searches and report back to the
Committee. Moved (Giese, Olson) and approved to adjourn at 1:47 p.m.
