Date of next meeting was set for Tuesday, October 5 at 12:30 p.m. Jensen moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Berenschot seconded the motion. Motion carried. Berenschot moved that the previous meeting's minutes be approved. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion carried. Raymond moved that the vouchers be approved. Jensen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Administrative Report The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Pierce, St. Croix, and Polk Counties and the UW-Extension for the Horticulture Educator position was reviewed. Berenschot moved to accept the MOU. Jensen seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Strategic Planning Survey was discussed with members. The intent of the survey is to use it as a guide to future statewide and local programming efforts. Ag Agent Report Farm City Day was held at the Schottler Family Dairy on August 14. Attendance is being tabulated. It was a very successful day focussed on improving relations between urban and farm families. Seventy-two producers and agribusiness people participated in the annual Corn Silage Field Day at Jon-De Farms. This year's educational focus was on corn silage, kernel processors, and the feeding of processed corn silage to dairy cows. Twenty-three people participated in the West Central Croix Valley Graziers pasture walk at the John Gavin Farm in Dunn County. 2000 Grant Application: Fodroczi said that Mary Barney is working on the 2000 Grant Application for State Recycling Funds. It is due October 1St. About half of the municipalities have submitted annual projections. Local recycling contacts appear prepared for anticipated reductions in Recycling Funds next year. Fall Newsletter: The final proof of the fall issue of "YOUR WASTELINE"newsletter was delivered to the printer on September 1St. The mailing date will be September 15th, just prior to upcoming fall collection programs. Update on Funding for Recycling: Fodroczi indicated that State funding for recycling for 2000 and beyond is still pending completion of the State Budget by the Legislative Conference Committee. WWRA 2000 Contract for Services: Fodroczi reported that he is working with Dean Swenson of the Western Wisconsin Recycling Association to prepare the 2000 Contract for Services. Contract terms will be finalized after the WWRA Board meeting in September. Family Li-vingAgent Report Lestrud reported on activities of the Family Resource Center. A new staff member has been hired to provide home visiting/parent educator services to young families throughout St. Croix County. Lestrud took staff and another board member to visit LaCrosse's Center and make plans to visit Chippewa Falls and Ladysmith. Lestrud is helping the Center to develop a Fatherhood Initiative and apply for a$2,500.00 grant from UW-Extension to implement programming for fathers. Lestrud plans to attend the State HCE Leadership Institute and Convention in Madison September 13— 16 with 14 members from St. Croix County. They,"ill focus on ways to support the needs of youth. Lestrud is currently planning two major initiatives for families: Family Camp for families on limited income (Oct. 1 —3)and the Reading Festival Program(October 16)which reaches 1,300 youth and several hundred parents/grandparents each year.
