Ronald Raymond,Art Jensen, Lois Burn, Dave Fodroczi, Lee Milligan, Jim Janke, and Mary Lestrud. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m. Date of next meeting was set for Tuesday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m. Raymond moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Burri seconded the motion. Motion carried. Jensen moved that the previous meeting's minutes be approved. Rayond seconded the motion. Motion carried. Burri moved that the vouchers be approved. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion carried. Resource Agent's Report Janke presented a summan,of the phase 1 of the Hudson Retail Analysis project. Maps of the primary trade area were shown. Each of the 8 participating businesses received their own data in addition to the overall tabulation. Janke presented the results of the New Richmond Area Consumer Survey at a retail committee meeting. The survey information was collected by telephone calls to 200 randomly selected households in the 248 telephone exchange. The Value Added Agriculture Conference is scheduled in Eau Claire on February 9 and 10. Janke is on the planning committee that has organized the event. Business Management Counseling Sessions were held in Hudson on January 26 with four clients. Follow-up assistance is being provided to all four. Ag gent's Report In January Milligan coordinated the Western Wisconsin Ag Lenders Conference, Looking At Your Dairy Future—DFBS Symposium and the Northwest Wisconsin Dairy Herd Operators Seminar. Participation numbers ranged from 42 to over 120. disposal for 1999 programs. Some unit prices have increased,but our contract with N should stili fall within our budgeted amounts. Collection events will be held on May 22nd in Hudson and September 25th in New Richmond. Jensen made a motion to approve renewal of the Clean Sweep contract with NVA'RPC for 1999. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion carried. Tire and Appliance Roundups: Fodroczi reported that the Tire Roundup has been scheduled for June 5th and June 12th at seven sites throughout the County. Our disposal contractor, Greenman Technologies, has offered a price of$80 per ton, which is up from S75 per ton in 1998 due to coal and tire fuel prices. Services from the vendor have been excellent. Jensen made a motion to continue contract services with Greenman Technologies. Burri seconded the motion. Motion carried. Fodroczi also reported that an Appliance Roundup 1vould be held at the Baldwin, Hudson and New Richmond sites on June 12th. J.R.'s Appliance has offered a contract for appliance collection services at 1998 prices with all fees paid cash by the consumer. Raymond made a motion to continue the appliance collection contract with J.R.'s Appliance for the 1999 collection. Burri seconded the motion. Motion carried. County Fair Recycling: Fodroczi displayed a collection of photos from last year's County Fair illustrating staff concerns with management of waste and recyclables_ Barney will try again to work with the Fair Board to make improvements. The 4-H clubs and leaders are very interested in making improvements to recycling a part of their County Fair acti,ities. Committee members pledged support for staff efforts to work with the Fair Board to make improvements. Eau Claire County Resolution: Fodroczi presented and summarized a letter and resolution from Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties asking for support and similar resolutions from other counties. The resolution seeks legislative change to authorize counties to levy special charges on the property tax bill for recycling services. Fodroczi reported that Corporation Counsel Greg Timmerman had no legal objections. The Committee members supported the concept and agreed to consider a resolution at the next meeting with review by Timmerman and John Krizek. Jensen moved to adjourn. Raymond seconded the motion.
