The meeting was called to order by Chairman Chris Bethke at 12:50 p.m. Date of next meeting was set for February 2, 1999 at 12:30 p.m. Ron Raymond moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Art Jensen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Art Jensen moved that the previous meeting's minutes be approved. Lois Burri seconded the motion. Motion carried. Art Jensen moved that the vouchers be approved. Chris Bethke seconded the motion. Motion carried. Planning Department's Report Fodroczi reviewed a list of December vouchers totaling $2,921.61. Berenschot moved that the vouchers be approved as presented. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion carried. Clean Sweep: Fodroczi reported that staff continue to work with the Northwest Regional Planning Commission to renew our contract for services and schedule 1999 collection dates. Collection events will be held on May 22nd in Hudson and September 25' in New Richmond. The contract should be ready next month after NWRPC receives bids for disposal services. Staff submitted a DNR grant request for $15,000. Awards will be announced in February. A 1998 Final Report has been submitted to the State documenting the collection and safe disposal of 17,600 pounds of hazardous waste from 549 households and businesses. Recycled Christmas Tree Ornament Contest: Fodroczi reported that the Recycling Program sponsored another recycled Christmas tree ornament contest. Ornaments were judged on creativity and use of materials. Winners were Jackie Bradham (1`), Kathryn Beutel (2°d), Beth Pabst (3`d), and Treasurer's Office (4'). Sue Nelson, Kathy Spott, and Greg Timmerman served as judges. Mary Barney, Jackie Bradham, Judy Kahler, and Mary Lou Kohls donated prizes. Eau Claire County Resolution: Fodroczi presented and summarized a letter and resolution from Eau Claire County asking for support and similar resolutions from other counties. The resolution seeks legislative change to authorize counties to levy special charges on the property tax bill for recycling services. Fodroczi asked the committee to review and he would report 1
