COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING
November 18, 1999

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman, Herb Giese, called the
meeting to order at 8.30 a.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present were John Mortensen,
Florence Patrick, Carolyn Weisenburger, Phil Hammer, Rhoda
Wood, Herb Giese, and Lois Burri. Ann Healy, Mary Lou
Smith, Rich Peterson, and Doris Teigen were excused. Also
present were Sandy Gehrmann, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell,
Gladys Ellefson, Myona Davis, Jolayne Mehr, Donna Zacharias,
Peggy Patterson, Lorraine Jacobs, Shelly Casey, and Marita
Sweeney.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by John
Mortensen and seconded by Rhoda Wood to adopt the agenda
with the addition of Marita Sweeney, Turningpoint, to New
Business; motion carried.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be
December 16' at 8:30 a.m.
ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was made by
Rhoda Wood and seconded by Florence Patrick to approve the
minutes as printed; motion carried.
UNFLNISHED BUSINESS:
2000 Calendar: The 2000 calendar to date is as follows: Silent
Auction/Meat Ball Dinner - Thursday, March 23rd; Volunteer
Recognition - Thursday, April 13`''; Senior Celebration -
Wednesday, May 10'; "Teeing It Up For Senior Services" -
Monday, June 12'; and Senior Leadership Training - Thursday,
was made by the Council on Aging to adopt the Elderly Pro
Bono project. Fifteen to seventeen local attorneys are interested
in helping with the project.
The nutrition sites received home-delivered meal cards to put on
doors if participant is not home when meal is delivered.
Phil Hammer and Barb Blaisdell presented a plan for the Centers
to start having memberships. The cost could be anywhere from
$12.00 to $100.00 per year, depending on the type of
membership desired. The Council on Aging is in favor of this
idea.
The Center Boards need to bring their United Way Budgets to the
December 16' meeting.
A motion was made by Phil Hammer and seconded by John
Mortensen to accept purchase bids for the 1988 Ford Mini Van
that was housed at Somerset; motion carried.
SITEXENTER REPORTS:
DEER PARK: Participants enjoyed the Veterans Dinner. A
December 10' trip is being planned to Rice Lake.
GLENWOOD CITY: Representative not present.
BALDWIN: A December 10' van trip is being planned to go to
Fanny Hill and look at lights. The Center Board will pay $10.00
for each participant. A copier was donated to the center. Had
Veterans Day and Halloween Parties.
HUDSON: The two driver positions have been filled. A light
trip has been planned for December.
NEW RICHMOND: On December 7', participants will
decorate the Center. Participants are planning on going to the
Baldwin Dining site for the Christmas Party and a light trip.
Deerfield will use the van on Tuesdays and Fridays.
