COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING
September 16, 1999
Government Center
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman, Herb Giese, called the
meeting to order at 8.30 a.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present were John Mortensen,
Ann Healy, Florence Patrick, Carolyn Weisenburger,
Herb Giese, Doris Teigen, and Rhoda Wood. Mary Lou
Smith, Phil Hammer, and Lois Burri were excused. Jean
Schroeder was absent. Also present were--Sandy
--Sandy
Gehrma.nn, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Gladys Ellefson,
Shirley Marlette, Peggy Patterson, Janice Thompson,
Marguerite Sumner, Ethel Peterson, Jolayne Mehr, and
Donna Zacharias.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by
John Mortensen and seconded by Ann Healy to adopt the
agenda; motion carried.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be
October 21' at 8:30 a.m.
ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was
made by John Mortensen and seconded by Ann Healy to
approve the minutes as printed, with a notation that the
next meeting date should be September 16'; motion
carried.

dinner will be tomorrow. Proceeds from the event will
benefit the Faith In Action and DayAway Programs.
Staff Reports:
The State Elder Abuse report was distributed and
discussed.
The Flu Clinic schedule was discussed.
The American Cancer Society p will sponsor a Road to
Recovery program at Holy Family Hospital in New
Richmond on September 25'.
The Deerfield nursing home will occasionally use the New
Richmond Van for trips.
SITEXENTER REPORTS:
DEER PARK: Participants enjoyed a picnic at the Senior
Center. An evening meal and a trip to Augusta to the
Amish community are being planned.
GLENWOOD CITY: The new Green Thumb worker
and cook are doing well. The Angel pin fundraiser has
been a success. Blood pressure was given at the Birthday
Party. A leaf trip is scheduled. !
BALDWIN: The Dutch Days Breakfast on August 7'
went well. A leaf trip is being planned. There was
discussion about incidents concerning group home clients.
A committee of staff members was asked to address the
problems.
