COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING
April 15, 1999

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman, Herb Giese, called the
meeting to order at 8.30 a.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present were Herb Giese,
Andy Germain, Lois Burri, John Mortensen, Rhoda
Wood, Larry Weisenburger, Phil Hammer, Roberta Moe,
Mary Lou Smith, and Rich Peterson. Ann Healy was
excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Jonna
Fedie, Cindy Icard, Barb Blaisdell, Gladys Ellefson,
Bonnie Brande, Donna Zacharias, Janice Thompson,
Ethel Peterson, Carolyn Weisenburger, Joanne Matysik,
and Shirley Marlette.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by
Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to
adopt the agenda; motion carried.
DATE OF NEXT MEETINGS: The next meeting will
be Thursday, May 20 at 8:30 a.m.
ACTION ON PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was
made by Rich Peterson and seconded by Andy Germain to
approve the March minutes as printed; motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
OAA Reauthorization/Redesign: There are currently
bills in both the House and Senate calling , for
reauthorization of the Older Americans Act. At this

They estimated that 3,000 people attended.
A meal carrier was passed around to look at for a possible
purchase.
There is a bus, free of charge, going to the CWAG rally
in Madison leaving from Eau Claire on May 18'.
Food stamps may be used at the nutrition sites.
A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded
by Andy Germain to request the Personnel Committee
study a wage adjustment for the nutrition site staff; motion
carried.
There will be a proclamation in September about the
Nutrition Program's 25' year anniversary.
Bonnie Brande received a Certificate of Appreciation for
her dedicated employment.
The Card parties are going well.
The Senior Center Coalition received $8,000, DayAway
Club $2,000, and Faith In Action Program $500 from
Greater St. Croix United Way.
SITEXENTER REPORTS:
DEER PARK: Footcare and food BINGO are
scheduled.
GLENWOOD CITY: There are two new members on
