MINUTES
Emergency Government Committee
December 31, 1999
PRESENT: Chuck Mehls, John Mortensen, Tom Dorsey, Art Jacobson - County
Board; Jack Colvard - Emergency Government; Bruce Brantner - Emergency
Communications .
Chairman Mehls called the meeting to order at 9 : 00 p.m. The Agenda was
adopted on a Dorsey/Mortensen MOTION.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: January 31, 2000 9: 00 a.m. - Location to be
determined
After review, Minutes from the October 25th and November 30, 1999 meetings
were approved on a Jacobson/Dorsey MOTION.
OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
1) Director' s Report:
Colvard informed the Committee about the terrorism training that is
available, through the State, funded by the Federal Government .
Mehls and Colvard will be attending Train-the-Trainer classes on
terrorism, at Fort McCoy, during the month of January.
Colvard was requested to participate as a presenter in a Department
of Health and Family Services Conference in Stevens Point, on October
22, 1999. A letter was received from DHFS thanking him for his
participation and identifying that 940 of the attendees rated his
presentation as good to excellent and that 56% rated it as excellent .
Colvard will be submitting a grant to replace and upgrade his
computer. The grant is an 80-20 split grant with the state picking
up 800 of the cost, up to $2, 000 . 00 .
2) Approve November Bills :
The bills for November were approved on a Mortensen/Jacobson MOTION.
3) Y2K Preparations and Emergency Operations Center Mitigation Exercise:
Because of the potential for a Y2K incident to occur, the EOC will be
activated from 10 : 00 p.m. , 12/31/99 till 3: 00 a.m. 01/01/2000.
Colvard has received approval from the State to treat this as a
mitigation tabletop exercise. This will be applied towards his plan
of work grant requirements for FFY 2000 .
3) Public Comments
Mehls plans one more Y2k meeting for January 14th at 3 : 00 p.m. This
will be the final meeting and will provide closure to this event.
POSSIBLE AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING: Baldwin Hospital generator
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 9: 55 p.m. on a
Jacobson/Mortensen MOTION.
