Chairman Mehls called the meeting' to order at 9:00 a.m. The agenda was adopted on a Jacobson/Mortensen MOTION. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: February 11, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. After review, Minutes from the December 21, 1998 meeting were approved on a Mortensen/Boche MOTION. NEW BUSINESS 1) Chairman Mehls welcomed Supervisor Boche to the Committee. Supervisor Boche was a member of the Committee during his term as County Board Chairman. OLD BUSINESS 1) Internet and E-Mail Update: Colvard informed the Committee that internet and E-mail has been approved for the department. This will be installed as soon as computer services has the time to do it. 2) Auxiliary Power for Ag Center There was discussion of the Ag. Center's need for an auxiliary generator in order to bring Supervisor Boche up to date on the installing of the Emergency Government's generator at the facility. Also, the limitations of the generator were identified, due to its output of only 15 kw. NEW BUSINESS, continued 2) FFY 99 (Federal Fiscal Year)- 1st Quarter Plan of Work Colvard distributed a copy of the quarterly letter that he has to submit to the State, outlining the quarter's plan of work activities the department must complete in order to meet grant requirements. 3) Approve December Bills After review and discussion, the bills were approved on a Mortensen/Boche MOTION. 1 4) Director's Report Colvard informed the Committee that the total grant and training reimbursed monies received by the department totaled $61,066.12 for the calendar year of 1998-. ' So far, for this year the County has been awarded $1007 for training classes to be presented in 1999. On January 6, 1999, Colvard met with Weber and Terri Leece of the Salvation Army, in order to discuss their roles and resources in cooperation with Emergency Government and the Red Cross. Another meeting is planned in February to include representatives of the St. Croix Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Emergency Government has received a check for damage assistance for the City of New Richmond for $6,806.50. This will be presented to the City by Chairman Tom Dorsey. Sue Nelson, Chair, of the Safety and Security Team sent out a letter requesting comments and concerns of the employees. Colvard submitted the concerns addressed by his secretary and the U.S. Marshal for panic alarms in the department. Also, the recommendation of the use of. badges to identify employees. i 5) Public Comments i Weber commented on the meeting that took place with Emergency Government and outlined Salvation Army activities in the County, for the Committee. She also is going to attend a State sponsored course on Evacuation Planning through Emergency Management on February 1-2, 1999 at Fort McCoy. Mehls requested that Colvard try and see if he can obtain a list from Wisconsin Central identifying how many and how much hazardous materials were transported via Wisconsin Central through the City of New Richmond in 1998.` He would like to use this information for municipal planning.
