ST ROUK,,, RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTINUATION OF SELF-
' �' INSURED WORKER'S COMPENSATION PROGRAM
1 WHEREAS, St. Croix County is a qualified political subdivision of the State of Wisconsin; and

3 WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Workers Compensation Act(Act)provides that employers covered
4 by the Act either insure their liability with worker's compensation insurance carrier authorized to
5 do business in Wisconsin, or be exempted (self-insured) from insuring liabilities with a carrier
6 and assume the responsibility for its own worker's compensation risks and payments; and

8 WHEREAS, the State and any of its political subdivisions may self-insure for worker's
9 compensation without a special order from the Department of Workforce Development
10 (Department)if they agree to report faithfully all compensable injuries and agrees to comply
11 with the Act and rules of the Department; and

13 WHEREAS, the Administration Committee at its January 24, 2018 meeting approved the
14 continuation of the self-insured worker's compensation program, in compliance with Wisconsin
15 Administrative Code DWD 80.60(3).

17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors of St.
18 Croix County does ordain as follows:

20 (1) Provide for the continuation of a self-insured worker's compensation program that is
21 currently in effect.

23 (2) Authorize the County Clerk to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the
24 Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Worker's Compensation
25 Division.

Legal Note:
Fiscal Impact: Continuation of self-insured worker's compensation program is a cost effective
option. Funds are budgeted for the program for 2018.
