ST ROUK,,, RESOLUTON FOR THE FORMATION OF A TRANSIT
' �' COMMISSION
1 WHEREAS, Wis. Stat. § 59.58(2)permits counties to establish,maintain and operate a
2 comprehensive unified transportation system which is to be used chiefly for the transportation of persons
3 and freight; and
4 WHEREAS, the statute goes on to set requirements for the rules,membership and duties of the
5 Commission; and
6 WHEREAS, the establishment of such a commission would allow St. Croix County to access Federal
7 Section 5311 Transportation Operating Assistance funds in the future; and
8 WHEREAS, the receipt of Section 5311 funds will provide stability in funding for transportation
9 programs in the County and will allow access to transit services to all St. Croix County residents.

11 NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors hereby
12 establishes the St. Croix County Transit Commission as permitted by Wisconsin Statute 59.58(2).

14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the membership of the St. Croix County Transit Commission
15 consist of nine (9)members, two (2)members shall be Transportation Committee members, one (1)
16 member shall be from the County Board at large and six(6)members shall be citizens. Appointments
17 shall be made by the County Administrator pursuant to Wis. Stat. §59.18(2)(c).
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Transit Commission shall report to the
19 Transportation Committee.
