POSITION IN THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT AND THE REDUCTION OF HOURS FOR THE
ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY POSITION IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the Finance Committee and its management staff had been reviewing staff needs for a
professional accountant position and had considered and approved in February its creation as an option to
replace an existing Financial Assistant position that had become vacant; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee and staff learned very late in this review that another vacancy had
been created in the Administrative Secretary position in the Human Resources Department due to a retirement;
and
WHEREAS, the Administrative Coordinator requested the Finance Committee to reconsider its earlier
approval of the Accountant position and its additional cost, and instead consider a budget neutral option for the
remainder of this fiscal year and also for succeeding budget years, consisting of a reduction of hours in the
Administrative Secretary position and a reduction of annual auditing expenses due to work performed by the
prospective Accountant position; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee reviewed and approved that option at its March 6, 2009 regular
meeting;
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors: approves a new position
titled Accountant; directs that it be placed in non - represented employee Pay Grade 7; directs that it be placed in
the Finance Department and supervised by the Finance Director; directs that funding for that position for the
remainder of 2009 be through the Finance Department budget offset by not replacing the Financial Assistant
position and by reducing auditing expenses by $5,000;.
FURTHER, be it resolved that the Administrative Secretary position in the Human Resources
Department be reduced in hours to 25 hours per week prior to filling the position for the remainder of 2009.
