JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County District Attorney's office and Victim/Witness
Assistance program has experienced considerable increase in demand for its services; and
WHEREAS, an additional Victim/Witness program staff position would greatly assist in
meeting the demand for services; and
WHEREAS, the District Attorney and Victim/Witness program coordinator have
identified non - County funding sources to fund an additional position in the Victim/Witness
program; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the non - County funding would be through the 2009 Recovery
Act: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Formula program; and
WHEREAS, the remaining portion will come from Wisconsin Department of Justice
Victim/Witness Services Assistance funds and federal monies (earmark) through the 2010 -11
budget; and
WHEREAS, a requirement of this grant program is authorization of the governing body;
and
WHEREAS, both the Public Protection Committee and Finance Committee have
reviewed and approved the proposal for the additional position and recommends the County
Board authorize the submittal of the Byrne Grant application;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
hereby authorizes the District Attorney's office to apply for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant in the amount of $25,003.
