RECIPROCITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN WISCONSIN AND MINNESOTA

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota had the wisdom and foresight
to create an income tax reciprocity agreement in 1968 to serve its citizens living in one
state and working in the other; and
WHEREAS, the agreement has benefited the 13,000 Minnesotans and 33,500
Wisconsinites who currently live in one state and work in the other by allowing them to
file only one state income tax return, and has benefited employers as well; and
WHEREAS, issues between the states appear to be manageable and differences
reconcilable if negotiations between the states can begin.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
supports negotiations between the states for the continuation of the interstate income tax
reciprocity agreement .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded by the
County Clerk to Governor Doyle and St. Croix County's representatives in the Wisconsin
State Senate and Assembly.
