NEW AND OLD BUSINESS: 1. Follow Up on Current Buildings Status - Tobin reviewed the status of the main County buildings. He reviewed the roofing project, facing issues and chiller work being done at the Government Center. He noted no fill exists behind windows in the main part of the Government Center contributing to problems. He addressed space needs that exist for the main offices in the building as well. Return air venting was not done properly in some of the offices and he will be addressing that. There are parking lot problems that appear to stem from an inadequate base. His staff has been repainting parts of the inside of the building and in the jail. The jail's door systems are outdated and in need of repairs or replacement. He has also been studying energy conservation for the building. He reviewed storage issues facing the Sheriff's Department, parking lot lighting and security cameras. Tobin covered the issues and work taking place at the H[-iS Building in New Richmond. Offices are in the process of being moved and some repair and maintenance is taking place as a result. And he reviewed roof problems that have developed at the AgCenter Building in Baldwin. The roof is showing problems developing from water and moisture. Improper venting and poor shingling have been identified as significant problems. A preliminary cost estimate for repair is $60,000. Also noted was a door alignment problem left from an attempted break in a few years ago. This allows wind and snow to get in the seam around the door. Water shedding is also a problem due to the base of the building being below grade resulting in water in the basement. Tobin, Whiting and Kling reviewed discussions they have had with SEH conceptually about what would go into a building and space study. The efforts of the HHS Committee were reviewed in regards to studying options for the nursing home and assisted living facilities. The consensus of the Committee was to continue to develop issues and options at the next meeting. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m. Julie Speer, Secretary Chuck Whiting, Recording Secretary 1
