NEW AND OLD BUSINESS:
1. Follow Up on Current Buildings Status
The Committee reviewed the Government Center reroofing project status and its effect on the second floor office
operations during construction. Standafer had reviewed the prospective work and the concerns of the judges. Speer
suggested placards be placed within the building during construction to make building visitors aware of possible noise from
the project. She also discussed issues regarding generator shutdowns she is aware of for the Emergency Communications
department and the jail operations. Whiting will relay these to Tobin.
Fred Johnson reviewed discussions at the HHS Committee regarding possible new nursing home options. The HHS
Committee is discussing such options at each regular meeting, but this is not to be interpreted as a parallel planning process
along side the Building Facilities Long -Term Planning Committee. Wentz reinforced this point. Johnson shared a generic
project process from visioning to completion that the HHS Committee had reviewed last month. Standafer questioned the
planning FIE office rearranging. Johnson reviewed the security measures taken at the facility had resulted in a single
access point to the building in the front. This meant long traverses within the building for elderly and disabled clientele to
certain offices. The plan is to rearrange those offices to reduce the distance for these clientele from the front entrance.
Johnson will meet with Tobin on any cost incurred prior to committing to the moving. This is to be reviewed by the HHS
Committee in March. The Committee agreed to hold its next meeting at the HE facility on April 1 and tour the facility
that day.
Whiting reviewed his brief discussions with Tobin about roof problems discovered at the Ag Center Building in Baldwin.
He also reviewed the Farm Service Agency's report of having overpaid on the County's lease since October of 2007 by
$2,000. This issue is not resolved, but Whiting stated the lease and the roof issues should mean including the Ag Center in
the Committee's studies and considerations. Whiting also briefed the Committee on a meeting and discussion arranged by
Tobin earlier in the week with consulting engineers on what a building study may look like. The Corrunittee will review this
at a later meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
