CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER 1101 Carmichael Road Hudson, WI 54016 -7710 (715) 386 -4680 RE: Septic Inspection - River Ridge Condominiums, SW1 /4NE1 /4, Sec. 36, T29N, R20W, Tn of Hudson, St. Croix Co., Wisconsin Dear Mr. Johnson: An inspection of the septic system which serves the condominiums at the above location was conducted June 26, 1997. At the time of inspection, the sanitary system appeared to be functioning properly. I did note some code deficiencies however. The septic tank manhole cover extends above grade - code requires that the cover be locked in place or covered with 1 - 6 " of soil. The pump chamber manhole is not properly locked. A locking devise must be installed so that the cover cannot be removed without the lock first being taken off. A typical method of accomplishing this is to install a chain and lock. I also observed that the alarm for the sewage pump does not appear to be operational. A new alarm should be installed. I recommend that these items be addressed as soon as possible. The inspection of this sewage disposal system was based upon a surface inspection of said system and did not involve any excavating or chemical analysis. Accordingly, there is the possibility of hidden defects in the system not discoverable by this inspection. This does not in any way warrant or guarantee the continued proper functioning or operation of this system. I recommend that both tanks be pumped at least once every three years. The prolonged life of a septic system is in part dependent upon proper maintenance. Sin rely, mes K.
