SOIL INTERPRETIVE DETERMINATION
(Pursuant to D.S.P.S. 385.60 (2), W.A.C.)
CORY BAUER PROPERTY
LOCATED IN THE SEl/4 OF THE SE1/4, SEC. 06, T29N, R16W
T. CWN OF BA--DWIN, ST. CROIX COUNTY
A required soil evaluation has been completed for Lot 3, C.S.M., Vol. 22, Pg. 5296. This report addresses
conditions described under SPS 385.30 (2)(b)1., Wisconsin Admin. Code. Soil profile descriptions and a
site map are attached.
The site is in a Skyberg silt loam map unit of the USDA Web Soil Survey adjacent to its boundary with a
Freeon silt loam map unit. Soil conditions on the site represent a transition from the Freeon soils to the
Skyberg soils.
The Skyberg map unit description for St. Croix County specifies a somewhat poorly drained drainage
class with seasonal saturation occurring at 6 inches while the Skyberg official series description
associates these soils with a poorly drained drainage class with frequent saturation atthe soil surface.
The drainage class for the adjacent Freeon soils is identified as moderately well drained in both the map
unit description and in the official series description with the expected minimum depth to seasonal
saturation occurring at 1.0 foot in the map unit description and at 2.0 feet in the official series
description.
Subsoil color patterns observed in sample profiles on the site, a chroma 3 matrix interspersed with Fe-
oxide accumulations and depletions immediately beneath the "A" horizon, indicate a somewhat poorly
drained drainage class as would be expected in a transition zone between poorly drained soils (Skyberg
series) and moderately well drained soils (Freeon series). The observed soil conditions most nearly
conform to the somewhat poorly drained Magnor series which has an expected minimum depth to
seasonal saturation of 1.0 foot according to the official series description. The Magnor soils are
specified as geographically associated soils of the Freeon series.
Free water rarely encroaches into the "A" horizon of soils with somewhat poorly drained moisture
regimes. This generalization is consistent with the Magnor official series description.
The observed eight-inch depth to redoximorphic indicators of saturation is greater than the six-inch
minimum required for In situ soil to install a POWYS (Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment System) per
SPS 383.44 (3)(b), Wisconsin Admin. Code.
