CROIX COUNTY SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMITTEE MINUTES WEDNESDAY— OCTOBER 28, 2009 — 3:00 P.M. ST. CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER — ROOM 1281 1101 CARMICHAEL ROAD, HUDSON WI 54016 CALL TO ORDER Chair Esther Wentz called the meetin g to order. ROLL CALL Doug Briggs, Roger Rebholz, Ken Kolbe, Esther Wentz, Gail Colligan, Sandy Fuller, Bill Rubin, John Shilts, Bill Crammer, and Joan Sprain APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING — The September 11 and 24 minutes were approved. OLD AND NEW BUSINESS 1. Update of DOJ Grant Looking at approaching tavern league to gain support for sustainability funding. Next year the grant from the state is 75% of the cash that they gave this year. Will need $6,000. in 2011 is 50 %. Need $45,000 per year. Ideas: fundraisers within the county (non -tax money). Use public access channels to tell story. Contact fraternal organizations. Invite them to be on this committee. Also, churches. Sandy asked for input into the Community Leader Survey that will be used in St. Croix Co. Bill Rubin said he would help provide a list of fraternal organization leaders, too. Gail shared a story about one of her cases. 2. Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Grant Application Update We will not know until November. 3. Drug Court Report- No report 4. Reports a. Open Door Rescue Mission - Tom Hennes - No report 5. Alcohol and Drug Information Update Doug shared concerns about some of the media and misreporting about compliance checks. Items for County Board approval must be submitted to the County Clerk's office by Wednesday morning preceding a County Board meeting. 1/31/2011 10:50 AM Esther shared information about changes in St. Croix Industries and passed out information so we could contact legislature if interested. 6. Dates and Times of Future Meetings Wednesday November 25" 3 PM ADJOURN Esther adjourned the meeting at 4:30 PM.
