Dates and Times of Future Meetings ADJOURN (Items may be taken in different order) ** Additions /Changes /Corrections Items for County Board approval must be submitted to the County Clerk's office by Wednesday morning preceding a County Board meeting. 2/26/2009 1:57 PM SOMERSET POLICE DEPARTMENT TO: Substance Abuse Committee FROM: Chief Briggs DATE: 3/19/09 SUBJECT: Meeting Minutes Substance Abuse Committee minutes 2 March 09 Members Present: Doug Briggs — Somerset PD, Rick Johnson — St Croix DA, Roger Rebholz — County Board, Chuck Whiting — St Croix County, Steve Kirt — Behavioral health, Amber Hahn — St Croix ADA, Esther Wentz — County Board, Gail Colligan — Youth service Bureau, Joan Chamberlin — AODA Behavioral Health, Bonnie Scheel — River Falls Partners for Youth, Bill Cranmer — County Board. Meeting called to order at 3:05PM by Chair Wentz Date for future meetings set for 26 March 09 and 30 April 09 Minutes from 28 January 09, motion to approve Briggs, seconded by Rebholz all approved. Reports: DOJ Grant, Briggs reported that an additional grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation, ($30,000) had been secured through the YSB to be used for a half- time position that will assist the current AODA Specialist within St Croix County. No match funds required. YSB, Discussion about securing an ID for the AODA Specialist and perhaps a follow -up meeting with the county school superintendents. Specialist's activities were reviewed. Drug Court, no report Tom Hennes, no report MADAM, no report SOMERSET POLICE DEPARTMENT SUDS /Underage Drinking Initiatives, report was presented by Chamberlin and Scheel about the Parents Who Host, Lose the Most program and the educational efforts to be made addressing the issue of underage alcohol consumption being facilitated by parents. DA Johnson offered to help with an informative letter to parents and suggested the Sheriff may be logical partner on the letter. Additional discussion, Briggs reported on the activities of the St Croix County Underage Drinking Coalition efforts and that the first round of compliance checks had been completed.
