District 8 WACEC Report and Assi en ~ ~ •

Expanded Role in Evaluations for office Chair: M' ,
ike Perki, UWEX western District Director discussed the move toward havin the Office '
g Chair conduct evaluations of office colleagues. The committee expressed concern re ardin

St. Croix County UWE~ Marketing Plan: Tabled until May meeting.
Agent Performance Evaluations: Closed session - 19. SS ~ 1 } C . Mike Perkl, UWE~
VL~estern District Director, conducted performance evaluations of the Agents.
Planning Depar~nent's Report: Fodroczi reviewed a list of March vouchers totalling
$3,109.63. Berenschot moved that the vouchers be approved as presented. Bethke seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
TirelAppliance Roundup: Fodroczi reported on vendor contracts for the TirelAppliance
Roundup. GreenMan Technologies, inc. formerly BFI} proposed to continue last year's
contract at a reduced price of $751ton. Fodroczi recommended this contract as the best
available price from a vendor that has previously provided good service He also
recommended increasing disposal fees to the public of $1 for car tires, $3 for truck tires, $7
for tractor tires and $10 for heavy equipment to offset a reduction in the available 1998
Recycling Grant funds, Motion by Jensen, seconded by Bethke to approve the proposed
contract with GreenNlan 'technologies, Inc. and the new disposal rates. Motion carried.
Fodroczi recommended approval of a contract for appliance disposal services with J. R.'s
Appliance. Rates were raised $1 to $9 for appliances and $17 for air conditioners. This is
the first price increase in four years. The alternative vendor would charge higher prices and
require county staff to load appliances and collect t'~e money. J. R.'s Appliance manages all
handling of the appliances and direct collection of fees from customers. Motion by
Beren.schot, seconded by Jensen to approve the contract wi.h J.R.'s Appliance. Motion
carried.
Clean S~veep Program: Fodroczi reported that contract with the Northwest Regional
Planning Commission for hazardous waste collections in May and September was signed.
He asked the Committee to set a policy on charging farmers and small business far disposal,
The new contract would allow separating labor and disposal costs. Previous contracts
incorporated labor costs in all disposal rates. Motion by Bethke, seconded by Berenschot to
charge farmers and small businesses the actual costs according to the contract schedule and
cover all labor costs from program funds. Motion carried.
Ron Raymond made a motion to adjourn. Leon Berenschot seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
