The meeting was called to order by Chair Chris Bethke at 12:30 p.m.
Date of next meeting vas set for October 6,1998 at 12:30 p.m.
Berenschot moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
Jensen moved that the previous meeting's minutes be approved. Raymond seconded the motion. Motion
carne .
Raymond moved that the vouchers be approved. Berenschot seconded the motion. Mahon carried.
Raymond moved to approve the contract v~~itl1 UTJ~EX for agent se~-ices for July 1,1995 to June 30,1999.
Motion seconded by Berenschot. Motion carried,
Resource Agent Report
Janke indicated that his activities this month were limited because he missed half the month due to n,
hospitalization and recovery from surgery,
Three businesses participated in the Business Counseling sessions at the Crovernment Center on
August 25. The next counseling date is September 25.

The land use and growth survey in the Town of Rush River went out in early August to all property
owners. Almost 60 percent .have been returned.
Janke is working with the Town Board in Erin Prairie on a land use attitude survey. The next meeting is
scheduled an September 14 to review the survey instrument.
Nine small retail businesses in Hudson are participating in the trade area analysis project. They are
collecting customer information at the tinge of sale during July, August, and September. Sales clerks are
asking the ZIP code of the customer and noting other characteristics of the customer, such as age. Janke
has made arrangements for the data sheets to be tabulated by the Survey Research Lab on the Madison
campus,

The St. Croix County Groundwater Vulnerability mapping project made considerable roaress in Jul an ~ p b y d
early August. A student intern is preparing the computer data for use by the ma in ro gram. work on Pp g p
the proj ect is temporarily suspended while the Geographic Information S~-stem Lab at UW-River Falls is
being remodeled.

Mabis reviewed current WFNP sites which are: Jail, WIC, Senior Nutrition Sites. Inde endent Livin . p g~
Headstart, and Early Childhood. New site possibilities are the food shelves and economic su ort. PP
Mabis discussed the county-wide venison project.
The breakfast brochure was distributed and Mabis explained the breakfast display.

Fodroczi reviewed a list of August vouchers totalin $3,351.$2, Ra mond moved that the voucher g y s be
approved as presented. Jensen seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Fall Clear. Sweep: Fodroczi reported on preparations for the Fall Clean Sweep scheduled for Se tember
rh ~ p 26 . Staff conducted awalk-through of the Hudson Highway Shop with the Hightivay De artment Safe
p tY Committee on August 19~. It appears that we can address all of the Highway De artment's concerns
p about use of the interior of the facility, including ventilation. The Safety Committee recommendations
will be presented to the Transportation Committee at its September 2~~ meetin .

pp g pp ances at each of the Clean Sweep sites during the same hours on September 26.
Recycling V~orkshop Report: Fodroczi and bethke summarized their attendance with M Barne at a
Sr ~ y recycling workshop 1n Eau Claire on August 21 sponsored by the District DNR Office, AROW and
WCSwMA. Several DNR staff reported on two ongoing studies of recycling fundin be pond 2004 and
g ~ the future of solid waste management in 'Wisconsin. Drafts of the studies should be available for ublic
. P revzew and comment early next year.

Croix County.
