ROLL CALL: Members present were Herb Giese, Andy Germain, Larry Weisenburger, John Mortensen, Rich Peterson, Ralph Bader, and Rhoda Wood. Phil Hammer, Mary Lou Smith, Ann Healy, Roberta Moe were excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Cindy Icard, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Shirley Marlette, Janice Thompson, Elma Liberty, Donna Zacharias, Gladys Ellefson, Bonnie Brande, Lorraine Jacobs, Kathryn Grootenhuis, Ethel Peterson, Vern Nelson, Ruth Huber, Art Groth, and Peggy Patterson. ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by John Mortensen and seconded by Larry Weisenburger to adopt the agenda; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Thursday, May 21, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. ACTION ON PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was made by. Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to approve the March minutes as printed; motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Long Term Care Redesign: Updates were presented. April/May/June Events: Events scheduled are as follows: April 21" Volunteer Banquet at Garfields May 14d' Senior Celebration at Faith Community Church May 15`h Senior Options Expo at St. Paul River Center June 2nd AARP Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center New Business: 9:30 Art Groth, New SCAN Publisher: Art Groth from the Central St. Croix News did a question and answer session about SCAN. 10:30 - Extension Nutrition ProgramQuestionnaire: An evaluation was done on the Nutrition Education Program that Martha Mabis does through the Extension Office. Staff Reports: ,r Internet access has been approved to be put on Sandy and Sue's"'bomputers. Faith In Action received a $15,000 grant for a 3-year period from the Helen Bader Foundation. Sharon Smith has resigned the position as Faith In Action Coordinator. The Card Tournament results were discussed. The DayAway Program members decorated bags for the Home -Delivered Meal participants. Aging and Handicapped Transportation, Inc. has purchased two vehicles. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Rich Peterson to approve The Disability Coalition's use of the New Richmond Van on May 3' Motion carried. The Nutrition Program has served 1,915 more meals that last year at this time. SITE/CENTER REPORTS: DEER PARK: The Deer Park 4-H Club brought table favors. The Center Board donated to the 4-H Club Easter Egg hunt in the park. GLENWOOD CITY: Martha Mabis did a BINGO Vegetable game. Participants enjoyed the card tournaments. Had Birthday and Easter parties. Blood pressure was this week. BALDWIN: The Baldwin Center hosted the Coalition of WI Aging Group Meeting. Nancy Firth from Heartland Home Hospice did a presentation. HUDSON: Participants enjoyed the card tournaments. AARP did a 55 Alive class at the Center. Martha Mabis scheduled to come on April 21s`. The Pan Handlers performed. The Computer Classes are going well. United Way presentation is scheduled on April 21S`. NEW RICHMOND: Participants enjoyed going to the Rustic Hut for lunch. Went to Stillwater to go shopping last Friday. Martha Mabis came and played Vegetable BINGO. Blood Pressure will be next week. An Osceola trip is being planned for May. RIVER FALLS: Had a Footcare Clinic. The Pancake Breakfast was a success. The Center is in the process of writing the United Way Grant. SOMERSET: Martha Mabis will be at the Center next Thursday. Walter Craft is performing at the Center today at 1:00. The Country Side Apartments donated Easter Baskets. The Koffee Clutch is now two days a week. WOODVILLE: Cards and BINGO are played. Participants are going to Eau Claire tomorrow. A May Fundraiser is being planned. A motion was made by Andy Germain and seconded by John Mortensen to adjourn the meeting at 11:20 a.m.; motion carried.
