Mary Lou Smith was excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Cindy Icard, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Shirley Marlette, Elma Liberty, Donna Zacharias, Gladys Ellefson, Ethel Peterson, Janice Thompson, Peggy Patterson, Joanne Matysik, and Lenore Hoolihan. ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by John Mortensen and seconded by Andy Germain to adopt the agenda; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Thursday, July 16, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. ACTION ON PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to approve the April minutes as printed; motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: LonLy Term Care Redesign: The Long Term Care Redesign Draft Summary was distributed and discussed. AAA Merger: Western Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging will end on June 30' . St. Croix County Department on Aging will report to Age Advantage in Madison. Discussion followed on meetings and other issues. Introduction of Lenore Hoolihan: Lenore is the new Faith In Action Coordinator. The Department on Aging is pleased to have her as a staff member. The Faith In Action Auction is scheduled for September 11' at the Baldwin Community Center. New Business: Nominating Committee Report: The Committee nominated Herb Giese as Chairman and Lois Burri as Vice Chairman. Election of Officers: Vice Chairman John Mortensen called for nominations three times for Chairman. A motion was made by Phil Hammer and seconded by Andy Germain to close the nominations for Chairman and unanimously elect Herb Giese; motion carried. Chairman Giese called for nominations three times for Vice Chairman. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by John Mortensen to close the nominations and unanimously elect Lois Burri for Vice Chairman; motion carried. Ripening - Video against Ageism: Video was shown and discussion followed. Staff Reports: Correspondence was read. The National AARP Convention that was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center was entertaining and a great learning experience. Aging and Space Flight brochure was distributed. The Leadership Training is scheduled for August 2e at 1:30 - 4:30 at the Government Center. A special presentation was given to Roland "Pete" Thompson for his years of transporting items for the Deer Park Nutrition Site. Sandy asked the Site Supervisors to check to see if there would be interest to go to the History Theater in St. Paul for an October bus trip. The next Senior Celebration is scheduled for May 13, 1999, at the Faith Community Church in Hudson. Warren Petryk is scheduled to do the entertainment again. The County Fair Speech and Demonstration Schedule was distributed and discussed. Barb Blaisdell discussed the Grant application for Vehicles. Aging & Handicapped Transportation, Inc. purchased the Van Drivers hats. A special thank you was given to Cindy Icard for her extra work with the donations we received from the Sheltered Workshop. SITEXENTER REPORTS: DEER PARK: Things are going well. GLENWOOD CITY: BINGO is going well. The air conditioner was put in. Celebrating Father's Day this week and a Salad Luncheon is being planned for August 7 thThe Center brochures have been completed. Dr. Lindberg did a presentation. A trip to Fawn -Doe -Rosa is being arranged for July. BALDWIN: A Card Tournament has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 24'. All centers are invited to attend. Cable for TV is being put in the Center. A van trip to Shell Lake is being planned for July 17th. HUDSON: A fitness program has been started at the Center and is going well. Pepper Fest activities are being planned. 4-H participants came and put on a show at the Center. NEW RICHIVIOND: John Mikla came to entertain on June 16'. Had blood pressure and a Birthday Party. A garage sale will be in August at the Center. On Friday, June 26' there will be van trip to Cedar Lake for a pontoon ride. RIVER FALLS: Had a Birthday Party at the Center. Footcare was held yesterday. A picnic will be on June 30'. The Simpson Family is scheduled to entertain. SOMERSET: Things are going well. Participants enjoy playing BINGO. WOODVILLE: Cards and BINGO are played. The Panhandlers performed on June 16f. Plans are being made for the County Fair. Cable is being put in. the Center. A motion was made by Andy Germain and seconded by John Mortensen to- approve the out of County van trips; motion carried. A motion was made by Andy Germain and seconded by Phil Hammer to adjourn the meeting at 11: 35 a.m. ; motion carried.
