Brantner, Director DATE: July 23, 1998 COPIES TO: COUNTY BOARD OFFICE COUNTY CLERK COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEWS MEDIA/NOTICE BOARD MINUTES EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE August 14, 1998 Present: Chuck Mehls, George Sinclear, Nancy Bieraugel - County Board; Bruce Brantner - Emergency Communications; Jack Colvard - Emergency Government; Jim VanderWyst - New Richmond Fire. Absent - Dick Trende Hudson Police Department; Ron Volkert - Sheriff's Department; Excused - Greg Carlson - WITC. The meeting was called to order by Chuck Mehls at 9:04 a.m.. The agenda was adopted on a Bieraugel/Sinclear MOTION. Minutes of the July 20, 1998 meeting were approved, on a Sinclear/Bieraugel MOTION. The date of the next meeting is October 12, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. in the Emergency Government Conference Room. Unfinished Business: None New Business• 1. Leave of Absence Request: A leave of absence requested by a staff member was rescinded by the staff member. No action required by the Committee. 2. 1999 Budget Review/Approval: Brantner presented the Committee with his proposed 1999 budget. He then identified various line items having increases and justified the increases to the Committee. Some concerns were voiced on some of the line items involving union contracts, overtime issues, and fixed percentages used for establishing costs, such as worker's compensation and liability insurance costs. Bieraugel/VanderWyst MOTION to approve the 1999 budget as presented noting the previous concerns addressed by the Committee. 3. Bills and Voucher: The July bills were presented to the Committee. Discussion ensued about licensing of radio frequencies in the County. Brantner identified that all frequencies are licensed to St. Croix County without identifying a particular department. Bieraugel/ Sinclear MOTION to approve the July bills as presented. 4. Director's Report: A. Brantner stated that the RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services repeater station has been upgraded, but they are still waiting on a receive crystal, the company shipped the wrong one. His estimation is about two (2) more weeks before it will be up and running. B. Repainting of the Hudson water Tower should start in the next week or two, which will require the removal and reinstallation of the County's'antennas. The County's antennas are insured. Announcements & Correspondence Chuck Mehls requested emergency services to address any concerns that they may have. Fire representative Jim VanderWyst stated that there a no concerns that he knows of concerning fire department problems at this time. EMS and the Law Enforcement representatives were not present at this meeting. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m. on a Sinclear/Bieraugel MOTION.
