Proposed detour for STH 65 construction in year 1999. Use of 210th Ave and Co. C intersection between New Richmond and Star Prairie. Proposed 65 MPH speed limit on new STH 35 expressway between I94 and River Falls, scheduled to open in year 2000. Small local Safety (HES) Projects Program, roadway Safety Projects under $25,000.00. Request for reduced speed limit on 180th Ave. between STH 64 and CTH K. Legislative update. Thompson DATE: June 2 91 1998 COPIES TO: County Clerk News Media/Notice Board Committee Members St. Croix County Traffic Safety Commission meeting was held July 8, 1998 at the Sheriff Department in Hudson at 1:30PM. Present were: Brent Pickard, Miles Wittig, Jeff Kern, Greg Helgeson, Jerry Larson, Doris Peterson, Paul Burch, Brian Erickson, Dan Fedderly, Charles Grant and Pam Dabruzzi. Meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Sheriff Burch. Motion to adopt agenda approved. Motion to accept minutes of April 8, 1998 meeting was made, seconded and approved. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Helgeson received a request for a red flashing light on the stop sign at Hwy. 65 and Hwy. 12 east of Roberts. Currently there are rumble strips at the intersection. The state is reluctant to put in a flashing light. Discussion was held. Motion made and seconded for DOT to send a letter to leave as is. Motion carried. Discussion was held on request of Mr. Kern of WI DOT to use 210th Ave. and Co. Rd. C intersection between New Richmond and Star Prairie for detour for Hwy. 65 construction in 1999. Mr. Fedderly recommended NOT using 210th Ave. as a detour, but use Wall St. instead. Motion was made and seconded for DOT to use Wall St. for detour with temporary signs. Motion carried. Mr. Helgeson stated DOT is proposing a 65 MPH speed limit on STH 35 expressway between I94 and River Falls. Discussion was held. Motion was made and seconded for 65MPH limit now and in the future look at freeway concept for STH 35. Motion carried. Mr. Fedderly stated DOT is proposing redoing I94 and some bridges in 2001. On I94 between Hwy. 12 and Hwy. 65 traffic will be counter directional. DOT is looking at closing the weigh station. Motion made and seconded to support DOT's proposal to close the weigh station during construction in 2001 during the time of counter directional traffic. Motion carried. Mr. Helgeson made committee aware of monies available for small roadway safety projects under $25,000.00. Request was made for reduced speed limit on 180th Ave between STH 64 and CTH K. Discussion was held. This ip a town road and request will be forwarded to the Township. DOT will be paving the shoulders for bicyclists on Hwy. 65 from New Richmond to Star Prairie. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Mr. Pickard passed out information on different issues. Motion was made and seconded to adjourn. Carried. Respectfully submitted, Pam Dabruzzi
