Thompson DATE: March 23, 1998 COPIES TO: County Clerk News Media/Notice Board Committee Members St. Croix County Traffic Safety Commission meeting was held April 8, 1998 at the Sheriff Department in Hudson at 1:30PM. Present were: Greg Helgeson, Lois Burri, Brian Erickson, Bill Krueger, Brent Pickard, Miles Wittig, Roland Thompson, Jack Colvard Dan Fedderly, Charles Grant and Pam Dabruzzi. Meeting was called to order by Chairman Thompson. Motion to adopt agenda approved. Motion to accept minutes of the January 15, 1998 meeting was made, seconded and approved. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: CTH H & US63- Warning of stop signs ahead and bigger stop signs were installed. CTH C & CTH H-Nothing has been done with this intersection. Discussion was held concerning the ramp at Hwy. 63 in Baldwin, Mr. Helgeson checked on it, projects are being looked at. Chairman Thompson stated he receives 8-10 complaints a month about the intersection at Co. Rd. UU and Carmichael Rd. Complaints are mainly concerning heavy traffic especially with school in session. No current plans at this time by the County to improve it. Hwy. 12 from Co. Rd. UU will be resurfaced in the year 2000 and in 2004 it will be made into four lanes. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Helgeson discussed improvements to be made in Star Prairie on Hwy. 65 etc. Mr. Helgeson stated problems have been solved at Christian Academy. Mr. Fedderly stated he received a call reference speed on Hwy. 12 from Co. Rd. A Mr. Fedderly stated Kolpak in River Falls has asked for a striped pedestrian crosswalk with flashing lights on Co. Rd. MM across the road from plant to the parking lot. The Transportation Committee suggested it be referred to City of River Falls for their action on their responsible area. Motion made to refer request for crosswalk to the City of River Falls for their consideration. Seconded and carried. Mr. Fedderly stated there have been complaints about the Johannesburg bridge at Co. Rd.. C & CC. A request for increased enforcement was made. A discussion was held reference complaints the Transportation Committee has received about people going N on Hwy. 35 at 220th are not waiting and going around on right when people are waiting to turn left. Mr. Helgeson and Chairman Thompson will check on this area. Mr. Colvard stated $600.00 was received for First Responder training. Chairman Thompson stated the SpeedWave Program will start in May and run through August. Chairman Thompson asked Mr. Helgeson about a stop sign on Hwy. 65, a mile "N" of west side of Co. Rd. G in Richmond Township by the service road. (Derrick property) Mr. Helgeson will check on this. Mr. Fedderly stated the Hwy. 35/64 corridor project will go forward as planned in the year 2002. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Mr. Pickard stated the Senate and House bills for funding have come down. Money will be lost to states who don't adopt a .08 blood alcohol concentration law in the Senates bill. Mr. Pickard stated a lot of alcohol bills have been introduced in the State Senate. A bill has been introduced having more restrictions on the graduated licensing procedure. A bill will be coming down possibly for standard enforcement of seatbelt violations. Motion was made and seconded to adjourn. Carried. Respectfully submitted, Pam Dabruzzi
