ST. ROM�'w '° �..1NTY GRANT TO A HOSPITAL IN EAU CLAIRE COUNTY FOR EXPANDING
PSYCHIATRIC BED CAPACITY RESOLUTION
1 WHEREAS, legislation has been introduced that would require the State of Wisconsin
2 Building Commission to award a grant in the amount of $15,000,000 to a hospital in Eau Claire
3 County; and

5 WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to expand psychiatric bed capacity by
6 approximately 22 beds; and
7
8 WHEREAS, the hospital shall give preference in admission to individuals who meet the
9 criteria for an emergency detention and are from specified counties, including St. Croix County;
10 and
11
12 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors passed Resolution Number 35 (2018)
13 Regional Emergency Detention Bed Need Resolution that urged the state legislature to develop
14 and support legislation to fund secure regional emergency detention bed access in a hospital
15 setting to increase regional access, which will provide additional local resources for individuals in
16 need of emergency mental health services.

18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does
19 support legislation that would award a grant to a hospital in Eau Claire County to expand
20 psychiatric bed capacity.

22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors directs the
23 County Clerk to forward a copy of this resolution to the Office of the Wisconsin Governor, the
24 Office of Wisconsin Department of Health Secretary, St. Croix County Legislators, and Wisconsin
25 Counties Association.
